Review of Divergent (the movie)

Last night, my family and I went to see Divergent. I have to say, I absolutely loved the movie. I haven’t read the full series yet. I’m not sure if I’m going to read them. I found out what happens at the end of the series and that took all of the motivation out of me to read the books.

Ok, back to the movie. It was probably one of the better movies I’ve seen in a long time. Here’s what I liked:

It was full of action and suspense. I love a good movie or a book that keeps me guessing and my heart racing. Divergent definitely kept moving fast, and I was completely engrossed in the story the entire time.

Theo James: Need I say more? Not only is this guy hot, but also he can act. For me, he played the badass “Four” perfectly.

I loved the chemistry between Tris and Four. Although it was subtle, every time they touched, I could feel the attraction between the two.

I hate weak female leads.  Tris is tough and not a quitter. And I was pleased that Shailene Woodley was able to pull this off. I thought the fight scenes with Tris were pretty awesome- especially at the end, when she was fighting Four.

Although I wish Tris’s relationship with her friends was developed more, I’m glad that they did spend some time on her relationship with Four. I think this is crucial, and I felt that the director nailed it.

I strongly recommend all of you to see this movie. My entire family enjoyed it, including my nine-year-old son. I think it’s got something for everyone.

Now, am I going to read the books? I haven’t quite decided yet. I will see the rest of the movies though. And, I’ll probably go back and see Divergent again.

I know many of you will probably disagree on this with me, but I do hope that the ending of the series is changed for the movies. I can’t help it. I hate the ending of the series!

What are your thoughts?

Time Waits For No One

I’ve been thinking about this for a while so I decided to write a blog about it. I don’t know about you guys, but I still remember my sixteenth birthday, my high school prom, my first kiss, my silly, crazy years through college, my marriage, the birth of my first child… you get the picture. It seems like just yesterday all this happened.

Well, it’s 2014 already, and I’m in my freakin’ forties. I need reading glasses, and I definitely need to count my calories (yes, I gave up pop a few months ago, folks)! My daughter is going to be leaving for college in a few months, my son is about to be sixteen, and my baby is no longer my baby. He is almost nine!

So what is my point of this blog? TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE! So if you have a dream, do it today- don’t wait for tomorrow! If you enjoy something… a passion, then pursue it! What are you waiting for? If you love somebody, but you haven’t told him/her, today is the day to say it. If you’re sorry about something, then say it. Why is it so hard for people to say they’re sorry? Don’t wait for tomorrow because before you know it, tomorrow will soon be ten years later.

Life is too short! Live each day to its fullest. People you love will make mistakes and will disappoint you. So what does that mean? You’re willing to walk away? That’s the easy way out. Learning to forgive is the most courageous act anybody can learn. Don’t hold grudges. Shit happens, but life will always go on.

Remember, time waits for no one. That’s why I decided to write my books. I’m so passionate about it, I finally said to myself, “What the hell am I waiting for?” Work is always going to be around, and my responsibilities at home are not going anywhere any time soon. So, I just said to myself that it’s now or never. There will never be the “perfect time” to do what you really want to do.

So follow your dreams. Do it today! Don’t wait for tomorrow because tomorrow is not guaranteed. Now, I leave you with “This is Your Life” by Ryan Calhoun.

This is your life

It’s coming down

The weight of the worlds coming fast

If you wait around

You’ll see that it all comes to pass

Every time you find out the world isn’t flat,

Just trace the ground you’ll find just where you’re at.\

This is your life

Don’t try to get it right

There’s nothing here to fight

I wish you could see how you burn so bright

This is your life

 All roads

You’ve taken right down to the end

At every turn

You’ve found something new begins

So take the ride

And travel along where it goes

All in time

You’ll wonder how far you’ve gone

 This is your life

Don’t try to get it right

There’s nothing here to fight

I wish you could see how you burn so bright

This is your life.

All this time spent chasing after things that won’t survive

This is your life

Don’t let it pass you by

There’s nothing here to fight

I wish you could see how you burn so bright

This is your life

Don’t try to get it right

You’ve climbed to such great heights

And everyone see how you burn so bright

This is your life

This is your life

Yeah this is your life

This is your life

This is your life.
